INGREDIENT OF THE MONTH: MATCHA

This somewhat mysterious Japanese powder contains a high level of antioxidants and is a great metabolism booster, it is also sometimes known as the “clean caffeine”.

Matcha green tea is the “crème de la crème” of the green teas. It in fact has 10-15x the nutrients of normal green teas (with 137x the antioxidant values of normal tea!). The tea leaves are ground to a fine powder.

Benefits of drinking Matcha Green Tea:

  •      Highest concentration of antioxidants then any mainstream beverage,
  •     Natural source of caffeine,
  •      Improved mental alertness,
  •     Stress reduction & metabolism increase,
  •     Low Calories!

Adam Levine's Yoga techniques for the aching back

I have fibromyalgia, mostly in my lower back, and I find that the techniques shown above provided immediate relief for my lower back pain. I do recommend you take a hot shower or bath thereafter.

Here is a modified list of Adam's yoga music list. The exercises above will not push you through the whole list, so use the last few tracks as time to stretch out whichever muscles you choose and to just relax and breathe. The whole playlist lasts about 52 minutes.

1. "Kiss Me": Sixpence None the Richer
2. "Tired of Being Alone": Al Green
3. "Desert Rose (Live From Berlin)": Sting
4. "I'll Be There": Jackson 5
5. "What's Going On": Marvin Gaye
6. "You Raise Me Up": Josh Groban
7. "Giving Myself" Jennifer Hudson
8. "Maybe I'm Amazed": Jem
9. "Killing Me Softly With His Song": Roberta Flack
10. "Nightingale": Norah Jones
11. "Take Me There" Marie-Christine
12. "Love's Divine": Seal
13. "Let's Get It On": Marvin Gaye
14. "Je T'aime": Kelly Sweet.

Enjoy!

2012 Golden Globes: Best and worst dressed

I loved, loved, loved Dianna Agron's dress for this year's Golden Globes. I loved the colour on her, the style and detailing in the dress. A++! One of my two favourites of the night!

Emma Stone's dress was absolutely gorgeous! Again, loved the colour and detailing! A++! My other of two favourites of the night!

I really liked the detailing in Nicole Kidman's dress. It was really nice, although I would have loved to see it in a slightly more lively colour.

This year's Golden Globe dresses had a lot of plain colours in it, but some, like Sofia Vergara, really decided to have fun with colours, which I think is what these events should be all about, fashion-wise.

George Clooney and Jake Gyllenhaal were undoubtedly some of the best dressed men of the evening, but, then again, they all wore suits.

I did like Johnny Depp's take on the whole thing though. A little rocker edge in there. Very nice.

And of course, the host of the evening himself, Mr Gervais, also had a fun take on the whole suit thing.

Okay, one more thing: Love Adam Levine, but I did not love the pouffy bow-tie look. It looked like a young boy's bow-tie would look if he did it all by himself. Loved the suit and all that, but the bow-tie? No.

Awkward?...

Ingredient of the month: Açai berry

This ‘wonder fruit’ comes from a palm tree native to Central and South America. It is mainly grown in the Amazon rainforest and is ultra rich in antioxidants, nutrients and fibre.

This berry is actually highly recommended for people who want to loose weight.

Dr. Nicholas Perricone said on “Oprah” that this is “one of the world’s top 10 superfoods”.

Benefits of consuming açai:

  •      High level of antioxidants (higher then pomegranates or blueberries)
  •     Contains Omega fatty acids (healthy fatty acids)
  •      High levels of amino acids, calcium, iron and electrolytes,
  •    Made with Guarana, a natural caffeine.

Products:

  •        Often used with pomegranate (like juices and teas),
  •        Many smoothies and juices that you can buy at the average grocery store,
  •        Fuze Shape fruit juices,
  •         Zola Brazilian superfruits juice,
  •        Booster Juice’s High Impact Açai & Brazilian Thunder smoothies, Açai NRG Shaker, Hot Açai, Zola Açai Tetra Pak and Berry Bowl.
